Toulouse Open Metropolis is all about making Toulouse a modern city where it's easier to live and where there's more sharing going on. A city that takes advantage of ever more efficient technologies to facilitate the lives of citizens and make public action more effective.
500 million Euros
The Smart City Master Plan adopted in December 2015 budgets 500 million Euros in public investment by 2020 to change Toulouse into an "Open Metropolis". The Metropolis is also counting on private players and businesses to mobilise. The leverage effect in terms of private investments is reckoned to come to an additional 200 million Euros.
Emblematic Open Metropolis projects were launched or initiated in 2015 around the Project Managers represented by Toulouse Metropole and associated structures (SMTC TISSEO and So Toulouse), consortia and clusters. They define investment programmes and projects to get things moving and boost activity while attracting national and international interest. For further information
In 2016 eight projects were implemented in the scope of partnerships between public and private players on a wide range of themes (energy, water, car parks, senior citizen independence, urban congestion, autonomous and connected vehicles, etc.). They rely on the consortia comprising major groups, SMEs and start-ups and national and European calls for projects, leading on to public and private co-investment.
The Metropolis experiments, innovates and imagines completely new approaches and anticipates the changes relating to the interaction between the city and the digital world. This is precisely the objective sought through experimental schemes conducted with start-ups to help bring out new products and usages. 18 experiments have been conducted over the region. The Usage Laboratory
To accompany these projects and stick to citizens' real expectations, this provision for facilitation and consultation seeks to foster and accompany the development of new services and products as part of an approach associating businesses and citizens. In 2016, workshops were organised to invite citizens to think things out, test and express themselves on questions of e-citizenship, cleanliness and living together. For further information
