Major projects. Sites and demonstrators
To respond to the 5 major ambitions of the Smart City 2015-2020 Open Metropolis approach, 15 emblematic projects and 8 demonstrators have been on the rails since 2015. Where do they come in? Actions with citizens, Wi-fi in the city and 4G on the metro, connected autonomous vehicles, intelligent public lighting, autonomous facilities for senior citizens, etc.
15 projects
15 emblematic Open Metropolis projects were launched or initiated in 2015 around Project Managers represented by Toulouse Metropole and associated structures (SMTC TISSEO and So Toulouse), consortia and clusters. They define investment programmes and projects to get things moving and boost activity while attracting national and international interest. In this they answer to the 5 major ambitions of the Smart City 2015-2020 Open Metropolis approach:
1. Enhanced involvement and interaction with citizens thanks to dialogue and consultation tools
> on-line interface, Usages Laboratory...
2. Promotion of citizen and entrepreneurial initiatives
Promoting and developing actions proposed or supported by citizens or collective groups
> prices, calls for ideas...
3. Data Platform around open public data delivering services to citizens
> tourism, mobility, road works, e-services (works information application)...
4. Connected objects to facilitate daily life
> habitat, transports, innovative services...
Optimised, simple and fluid mobility
5. Multimodal hubs on the "village square" model: ten such "hubs" bringing a host of different services to converge (transport, information, caretaking, etc.).
6. Structuring and innovative transport network in matters of energy and connectiveness: 3rd Toulouse Aerospace Express metro line, Southern Urban Cable Car and Linéo bus routes.
7. Beating urban congestion: public / private approach to optimise traffic flows (aeronautics zone).
8. Autonomous and connected vehicle: the car of tomorrow and its place in the city
Adaptable, efficient and breathable
9. Integrated and exemplary development operations: targeted low consumption areas, optimised networks, autonomy, etc. (Plaine Campus, Cartoucherie, Las Fonses, Izards and Andromède neighbourhoods).
10. Environmental urban observatory: observing, modelling and deploying predictive solutions around space, aerial and terrestrial technologies.
11. Intelligent public lighting (cognitive, with shape detection) to provide better lighting while reducing energy consumption by up to 80%
12. Pooling of networks: optimising investments and maintenance costs under a "smart grids" logic.
International yet firmly rooted
13. Simple and fluid pathways for visitors providing an intuitive and interactive cultural and touristic experience (international ambition and UNESCO)
Good living, warmth and an intergenerational environment
14. 10 pilot intergenerational neighbourhoods over 5 years: facilitating accessibility and encouraging social links for frail or vulnerable people, especially the elderly.
=> The autonomy approach - Seniors and the City of Tomorrow
Beautiful, clean and safe
15. Cleanliness and renovation of the pavements and highways: making the most of public space, improvements in behaviour, optimising maintenance and cleaning, taking up global warming issues.

These projects can rely on consortia, national and European Calls for Projects, etc. and lead on to public and private co-investment.
